The CoVID - from a layman’s perspective

The CoVID - from a layman’s perspective

I don’t know the real situation presently because neither I am from medical field nor I am from any services fighting against this menace. But, it has obviously reached scary proportions. Medical facilities are crumbling, administrative system is failing. Everyone is looking around for help and solution. But the problem is that solution is not with the govt or the hospitals. It is with us - you and me.

Who is actually fighting against the Covid? the govt or the hospitals- no, it is you and your immune. So, where you should focus? On efforts made by the govt or hospital facilities available -  no, on your own efforts to improve your physical and mental health.

So, what not to do in these dire situations? My opinion is to be very careful and very practical.

First thing is to stop getting involved in political debate on this issue. This is not going to help anyone. Political debates have alway been agenda driven and it is not any different this time too. By the way, Covid virus is apolitical.

Stop reading/ watching motivated and depressing news highlighting failure of medical and administrative machinery. These news portal are also agenda driven. They are using Covid as a tool for their long term goal- create terror and fear. Fear undermines faith in the establishment. It weakens the system from within . . . causing unrest in the masses.  Write this down. This type of negative reporting is not an expression of rage or sorrow or dismay. It is a political weapon. Remove a government’s façade of infallibility and you remove its people’s faith. In the current scenario, it is not helping you, on the contrary, it is destroying you. Keep away from all these.

Now, What we should do - simple - avoid covid. Only solution is “break the chain”. Hmmmm, it is easy to say than doing it.

First thing is to religiously follow the medical advisories issued from time to time, without questioning. Never underestimate the protection provided by mask and hand-wash. Exercise regularly, even for 20-30 minute of mld physical exercise with some pranayam will help you a lot.

Don’t expect the situation to improve drastically in next 10-15 days, because people who have already been infected will take incubation time to develop symptoms and keep reporting in hospitals. But you have to keep yourself out of that list.

Don’t leave your near and dear ones in these difficult times, but take all precautions for protecting yourself while helping and serving them.

And keep your mental frame positive, it will not only help you, it will drastically help people around you too.

And finally, keep faith in the medical and administrative system. Once the load is reduced, it will once again start functioning professionally. But remember, it is your personal responsibility to keep yourself safe from corona. No one else will do that.
